comprised of a unique combination of exciting musicians and advertising veterans who love music first. We’ve been creating it, composing it, producing it, licensing it and generally living it for the majority of our professional lives.
Things are done differently here. We work with active bands, artists, and composers everyday on their own projects. Being a part
of this community makes it easy for us to get talented musicians in a room and create a space for great work to happen.
Working at this intersection between advertising creativity and music artistry is pretty darn satisfying. Not only do we get the opportunity to do some great work, but we also support and contribute to the community of dedicated artists and professionals we dig.
Our collective experience--making records, writing TV shows, touring the world, producing award-winning commercials, and just being in a constant state of creativity--enables us to bring together original, relevant work that everyone involved can be proud of.

We're in downtown Seattle right between Pike Place Market
and historic Pioneer Square. We're finally under the same roof as our Partner, Bart Radio. We knocked down a bunch of walls, built new
ones and even put in a sink.
We now have the studio space we've been dreaming of for years.
Robb's Danger Room. Charlie's Composer Suite. Both looking on to
the great sounding tracking room. Add in a couple ISO booths, a
crazy amount of vintage keyboards and organs and a perfect mix of
high end audio gear and lo-fi toys and you have a headquarters for creative music work.
Visit the Nels studio site here.

Bart Smith, Executive Producer and Creative Director, has a love for music that is wildly vast and varied. As a musician, he did the midwest college circuit in a punk band, played CBGB's in a new wave outfit, and led a danceable Afro-Pop house band at a now defunct Tribeca bar. Also, while in New York he founded the 80's stalwart music house Big Noise Productions, where he produced award-winning tracks for film, TV, and radio and learned how to program obsolete drum machines. Bart is also President/Creative Director of the national radio production company, bartradio, inc. and television production company Prettiest Pony Productions.
Bart divides his time between NYC and Seattle where he lives with his wife and two daughters, plays shortstop in the Puget Sound Senior Baseball League and takes great pride in his almost dandelion-free lawn.
Charlie makes music. He is a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. He is an active part of the Seattle music scene, contributing to projects that range from jazz big band to indie-rock, modern dance shows to independent films. His Composer’s Quarters at Nels serves as a collaborative space where Charlie works with many of the best and most innovative musicians in town to create works both commercial and creative. In other words, Charlie Smith is a fancy music man.
